Founded by Rei Kawakubo, Comme des Garçons exists in defiance of convention where fashion is stripped of expectation and rebuilt as pure concept. Since its emergence in the early 1970s, the house has continuously challenged the language of clothing. Asymmetry, distortion, absence, garments are deconstructed and reimagined, rejecting traditional notions of beauty in favor of something more intellectual, more confrontational. Comme des Garçons does not seek to flatter, but to question. It invites discomfort, curiosity and interpretation: each piece a dialogue between form and void, body and space.
